What is your dream?

Just scrolling through my computer last night, I found a video that I’d done some years ago. I was musing on my dreams, and it sparked the writing of this piece. I share the link to the video at the end.

Fifteen years ago, what were your dreams? What vision of your life lit a fire within you, guiding your steps with excitement and purpose? Maybe you imagined building a thriving business, traveling the world, or cultivating deep, soulful relationships. Perhaps you saw yourself immersed in creative pursuits or living a life of quiet simplicity and peace.

Now, pause for a moment. Take a breath. Ask yourself: have you given up on those dreams?

Life, like the forest, is ever-changing. When we walk mindfully among the trees, we witness how the landscape shifts with each step. The sunlight filters differently through the canopy, the trail curves unexpectedly, and new growth rises from the forest floor. Our dreams can follow a similar path — morphing, evolving, sometimes getting lost beneath layers of obligations, heartaches, and detours.

Do you need to get back on track?

Maybe you were derailed by responsibilities, societal expectations, or the weight of life’s hardships. But what if that derailment was just part of the journey? What if the roots of your dreams are still alive beneath the surface, waiting for you to return?

As you walk through this metaphorical forest, notice the feelings that arise. Are you mourning the dream you abandoned? Or do you sense that the dream has transformed, yearning to be rediscovered in a new shape?

There’s no shame in realizing that your vision has changed. Dreams, like nature, are dynamic. What mattered deeply to your younger self may not align with who you are now — and that’s okay. But if you feel a tug in your heart, a longing to step back onto the path you veered from, maybe it’s time to realign.

Start with gentle steps. Revisit what once inspired you. Listen to your intuition. Let yourself feel the spark again, even if it’s faint. And remember, just as the forest thrives through cycles of growth and decay, your dreams can bloom again — resilient, renewed, and ready to lead you forward.
